Questions, answered

Frequently asked questions.

Does laser hair removal hurt? +
Laser hair removal is described as a little elastic band flick, however due to the laser machine we use it is a much milder sensation and one of the least painful devices available.
How many treatments will I need? +
Due to the growth stages that all hair goes through, you will require a number of treatments. You will be advised on how many treatments are likely to be needed but on average we say 6-8 sessions, 4-8 weeks apart. All hair growth cycles are slightly different and some women, at a mature stage in their life, will sometimes find that some small hairs will appear gradually over time due to increased hormone activity.
How do I prepare for my first laser hair removal treatment? +
We ask all patients to shave the day before treatment and we will clean the area before treating you.
How long does each session last? +
It will be dependent on which body area you are having hair removed from. For example, underarm hair will take approximately 5 minutes, full leg 30 minutes.
Will I see immediate results from my first session? +
Yes, and the hairs treated will fall out naturally over a period of between 7 and 21 days. A course of treatments will be required in order to achieve long term/ permanent hair removal as your body hair has a natural growth cycle.
What should I expect after my first laser hair removal treatment? +
Slight pinky colouring to the skin afterwards for 1-24 hours. Possibly feeling warm for 1-24 hours. Between 4 days to 2 weeks moulting phase may occur, where the hair fall out leaving the area with bald patches or reduced growth. All patients are different and the above can be slightly different or times shortened or extended, also depending on settings treated at and the indication. For example darker skin colouring can not show up as much as lighter.
What isn’t normal? +
If any after effect occurs from the list below, please inform the clinic. Extreme pain or pain getting worse not easing. Bleeding unless caused by shaving. Bruising. Blisters or burns. Bad rash after treatment.
When is the best time to book laser hair removal? +
Laser hair removal cannot be done whilst you are actively tanning. Therefore we recommend that you begin the course of treatments during the winter months. However, if the area you are having treated is not exposed to the sun then there is no harm in having the treatment anytime of the year.
