CO2 Laser Skin Resurfacing

Fully ablative skin resurfacing using the award-winning Lumenis UltraPulse CO2 laser — we are one of only two clinics in South Wales offering treatment at this level.

About this treatment

We are one of only two clinics in South Wales offering laser skin resurfacing treatment at this level, using the award-winning Lumenis UltraPulse CO2 laser. Our Clinical Nurse Specialist Jodie Grove RN INP was a key opinion leader and clinical trainer for the UltraPulse.

This is fully ablative skin resurfacing — the laser precisely removes the damaged surface layers of the skin and triggers profound collagen renewal, addressing sun damage, deeper lines, scarring and skin texture. Jodie's area of special interest is CO2 laser resurfacing and scar management — she has travelled worldwide to train in, and later teach, this treatment.

Jodie was a European key opinion leader and clinical trainer for CO2 laser resurfacing — expertise at a level few UK clinics can offer, delivered in an HIW-registered hospital setting.

Questions, answered

Frequently asked questions.

How soon will I see results? +
Initial results begin to show after 10-14 days. Skin continues improving over 8-12 weeks as collagen regenerates.
Will I peel or scab? +
Yes. Peeling, flaking, redness, swelling, bleeding and tightness are part of the expected recovery. This typically lasts 10-14 days for fully ablative resurfacing, and 3-7 days for fractional.
Can I go on holiday during healing? +
No. Avoid sun exposure completely during recovery. UV light can reverse results and cause complications.
Does it hurt? +
Most patients describe it as uncomfortable but manageable. Topical anaesthetic and sedation are used to minimise discomfort.
How long does it take? +
Treatment time varies from 20-60 minutes depending on area size and intensity.
Do I need a consultation? +
Yes, this is compulsory. Jodie must assess your skin and discuss the appropriate level of treatment and aftercare.
How many sessions will I need? +
One fully ablative session is often sufficient. If using fractional CO₂, multiple sessions may be needed, spaced 3–4 weeks apart.
Do I have to wear SPF? +
Absolutely. SPF is mandatory before and after treatment — without consistent SPF use, we will not proceed.
Who performs the treatment? +
Only Jodie performs CO₂ laser treatments at The Private Clinic Swansea. She is an expert in laser resurfacing and leads the service at our HIW-registered clinic.
